親切だけど強引だったエージェントの話【私の体験談】

複数ある留学エージェントサイトから、1社を決めて、カウンセリング予約をしたのは夜の8時頃でした。

予約が完了すると、電話でのカウンセリングを希望した日の時間が記載された予約完了メールが返ってきました。

あとは、とにかく初回のカウンセリングを待つばかりでしたが、

「カウンセリングをしてくれる人はどんな人なのだろうか」

「堅苦しい感じの人ではないといいけれど……」

と、カウンセリング当日まで不安を感じていました。

 

感覚なのですが、留学エージェントの方と相性が良くないと留学自体がつまらないものになりそうだなと思ってしまったからでした。

しかし、私の不安は何度も連絡を重ねるごとに消えていくのを感じました。
大げさかもしれませんが、留学前の着信履歴は担当者の方の名前ばかりが表示されていました。

ただ、担当者の方を親切だと感じる一方、少々強引だと感じるやりとりもありました。

私：「英語に自信がないので、留学前の英会話レッスンのレベルをベーシックでお願いしたいです」

担当者：「レベルはアドバンスにしておいて、付いていけなければベージックに変更ができますよ。私も留学前、英語が心配だったんですけど、アドバンスで申し込んだんです。意外と高いレベルのクラスでも授業に付いていけたので、大丈夫ですよ。」

結局、私は納得のいかないまま契約をしてしまいました。

そして、英会話レッスン初日から「英語ができない」不安を覚えたと同時に、契約した留学エージェントからの留学もやめようとキャンセルを決意しました。

運よく、キャンセル料金が取られない期間だったのでお金はかかりませんでした。
しかし、担当者の方と相談した数ヶ月の時間を考えると、少しでも納得のいかない契約はするものではないなと思いました。

そして、数ヶ月の間に1社ではなく、2，3社同時に相談をしていたら、留学をキャンセルせずに済んだのではとも思っています。
